Our Mission

Educate students to be mechanical engineers capable of producing high level knowledge and technology; who can be leaders pioneering the design and production facilities, and develop environment-friendly solutions at the national/international industrial/research institutions.

Our Vision

Be a leading educational and research institution among the other departments which provide education at an international level, together with the technological developments suited for the national demands, serve the society and humanity by doing research and producing knowledge.

Completed and Ongoing National – International Projects / Patents

More than 200 projects have been supervised. There are ongoing projects regarding the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TUBITAK) and research projects within the university (BAP). There are numerous awards achieved and patents submitted/obtained by our academic staff. Program Learning Outcomes

  1. He/she has the necessary background of mathematics, physical sciences and related engineering branches; uses the theoretical and practical knowledge to obtain solutions for mechanical engineering problems.
  2. He/she specifies the problems related to mechanical engineering, describes, formulates and solves them by selecting and applying the appropriate analytical methods and modeling techniques.
  3. He/she analyses the whole or a component of the system or a process, and designs considering the realistic boundary conditions for the system to fulfill the requirements.
  4. He/she selects the modern technical tools necessary for the engineering applications; uses the information technologies and at least one engineering software effectively (at the advanced level of European Computer Users License).
  5. He/she designs experimental setup, conducts experiments, manages data acquisition, analyses the results and draws conclusions.
  6. He/she accesses knowledge, searches literature, uses the related databases and other sources of information.
  7. He/she works effectively individually or in multi-disciplinary teams and takes responsibilities.
  8. He/she communicates effectively, with the knowledge of at least one foreign language of European Language Portfolio at the level B1.
  9. He/she is aware of life-long learning; follows the scientific and technological developments and updates his/her knowledge.
  10. He/she has the professional and ethical awareness.
  11. He/she supervises projects, is aware of the workshops, workers' health, business and workers' safety, and the legal consequences of the engineering applications.
  12. He/she is aware of the consequences of the engineering solutions and applications on the society and other nations; and is conscious of entrepreneurship and innovation concepts, and recognizes the international problems of the his/her time.

Laboratory facilities

Six of our laboratories are located at the classrooms building, while the remaining 13 are in the laboratories block.

Our laboratories are: Aerodynamics Lab, Fluid Mechanics Lab, Computer Labs I-II and III for graduate students, Experimental and Numerical Heat Transfer Lab, Solar Energy Applications Lab, Thermal Sciences Lab, Thermal Power and Emission Lab, Internal Combustion Engines and Automative Lab, Laser Doppler Anemometry (LDA) and Particle Injection Velocimetry (PIV) Lab, Materials-Metallography Lab, Mechanics and Strength of Materials Lab, Mechanical Vibrations and Noise Control Lab, Mechanisms and Dynamics of Machinery Lab, Prof. Dr. Yucel ERCAN Automatic Control Lab, Machine Tools Lab, Prof. Dr. Suleyman SARITAS Powder Metallurgy Lab, Student Projects Lab.
